Gnocco Frito with Prosciutto di San Daniele

Gnocco Fritto with Prosciutto di San Dan


300 ml milk
     14 g yeast
   500 g flour
     2 tsp salt
   2 tbsp butter, soft
1 pound sliced Prosciutto di San Daniele 


Warm milk, mix with yeast, and let sit for 5 minutes.


In a separate bowl, mix flour and salt. Add milk and butter to flour and mix to combine. Knead for 5 minutes till smooth Wrap bowl with cling film and proof in a warm area for 1.5-2 hours till doubled in size.


Punch down dough and divide into 4 pieces. Roll out dough to approximately 1/8" thick and cut into small triangles. Fry triangles in 375°F oil, flipping halfway through till golden brown. Season. 


Serve a slice or two of Prosciutto di San Daniele with each Gnocco Frito
